Frieda has been Shelley Yap’s partner since 2012 and is an experienced conveyancing lawyer. She started as a court interpreter with the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak before being offered the Sabah State Government Scholarship (BKNS) to pursue her Bachelor of Laws from the University of London (external program). Before returning to Sabah, she worked as a legal practice editor with LexisNexis Malaysia for more than three years before sitting for the Certificate in Legal Practice and underwent pupillage at Mah-Kamariyah & Philip Koh in Kuala Lumpur and was called to the High Court in Malaya in 2007 (Jan). She later joined our firm as a pupil and was called to the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak in 2007 (Jun).
Areas Of Practice
Having chambered in both Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, Frieda is well versed with the conveyancing practices of West and East Malaysia. She is immensely experienced in guiding institutional clients such as banks and financial institutions through the complexities of commercial and corporate loans as well as other aspects of conveyancing law. Frieda is also involved in estate law matters such as drafting wills and applying for grants of probate.
Frieda is a member of the Basel Christian Church of Malaysia for whom she is one of the appointed legal advisors. As a choral music enthusiast, she has successfully combined her faith with her passion through her involvement in promoting Christian choir music in Sabah through Sabah Christian Festival Chorale Association.
