Qualifications

Adam graduated from Bond University, Australia, with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 2015. He subsequently obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT) and was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2016.

Later that same year, Adam joined Shelley Yap as a pupil. He served as an associate from 2017 to 2023 and continues to practise with the firm as a partner.

Areas of Practice

Adam regularly acts for financial institutions and insurers in courts throughout Sabah and Labuan and has personally conducted appeals in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal. His work often involves contentious claims arising from commercial transactions and insurance disputes.

His practice focuses primarily on civil and commercial litigation, including banking litigation, insurance law (particularly personal injury and property damage claims), debt recovery, enforcement of judgments, bankruptcy proceedings, and claims for liquidated agreed damages.

In addition to acting for institutional clients, Adam also advises and acts for individual clients in a wide range of matters, from wills and probate to public interest litigation.

Interests

In his spare time, Adam can usually be found listening to podcasts, gardening or reading. He also enjoys travelling, especially to places of historical significance or natural beauty.
