Qualifications
Datuk Seri Teo is our Managing Partner and the sole Notary Public in our firm. He received a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of London and is a member of The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He joined our firm in 1995, was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2006 and then elected as a Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly in 2008. His political career also saw him become Chairman of the Sabah Credit Corporation (2008 – 2010), Chairman of the Sabah Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (2011 – 2013) and Special Tasks Minister in the Sabah Chief Minister’s Department (2013 – 2018).
For his services to the State of Sabah, he was awarded the Panglima Jasa Negara (which carries the title of Datuk) in 2010 and the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (which carries the title of Datuk Seri Panglima) in 2018.
Areas Of Practice
With almost three decades of experience in legal practice and politics behind him, Datuk Seri Teo is a seasoned practitioner of both litigation and conveyancing law. He is at present focused on corporate and commercial litigation and advisory work, particularly in the banking and finance sectors. Datuk Seri Teo has handled numerous cases pursuant to the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (better known as “CIPAA”) and is thus well acquainted with the dispute resolution procedures set out therein. He is also well versed in succession and estate law. In addition to his work in the civil courts, Datuk Seri Teo also takes up employment law matters in the Industrial Court.
Interests
Datuk Seri Teo is a renowned Chinese calligrapher in the state who has participated in national and international exhibitions. He is a running enthusiast who also enjoys singing as a hobby.
